There are two methods that you can use to reset your router to the default setting when you want to clear all the settings on it.
You can still access the WEB GUI using this method if you can still access it successfully.
You can check the official site by clicking on method 1.
It is usually used when the WEB GUI is not accessible, ex: Forgetting the username and password of the router, FW update failure, or you were not able to reset the router using method 1.

How do I factory reset my Asus router:
Method 1: Reset the router through the WEB GUI.
The router settings will all be cleared after the restoration. Please save the information about your account and password in advance or ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if you need special settings or an account.
Step 1: Access the WEB GUI of the router.
As an example, take the router [RT-AC66U B1].
Using a wired connection, set up your wireless router as follows:
- Plug a power outlet into the AC-IN port of your wireless router’s AC adapter.
- Connect your computer to the LAN port of your wireless router using the bundled network cable.
1-2 Open a web browser and type http://router.asus.com.
Click [Sign In] after entering your login user name and password on the login page.
Please restore the router to factory defaults if you have forgotten the user name or password.
Step 2: Reset to factory defaults
2-1 Click the [Administration] tab and select [Restore/Save/Upload Setting].
2-2 Click [Restore] to restore the router to factory defaults.

2-3 There will then be a window that will ask if you are sure you would like to continue restoring the file?
To begin restoring, select [OK].
This action will delete all current settings and restore the router to its factory default settings. This would include internet settings, SSIDs, and passwords of wireless networks.
2-4 Please wait until the router has finished rebooting. The router should not be turned off during the restore process.

Your ASUS Wireless Router can now be configured using the Web GUI.

How do I factory reset my Asus router-modem:
Method 2: Reset the router through the RESET button on your router
Step 1. Refer to the following image for where the RESET button is located on your router.
As an example, here are some pictures of the [RT-AC66U B1].
(There might be slight differences between models, so please check the user manual)
Step 2. After you have pressed and held the RESET button for 5-10 seconds, you will see your power LED light flash.
Now is not the time to turn on the LED lights. Restarting the router will cause this.
When the LED lights come back on as shown in the following picture, the reset is complete.
You could then try again to log into the router’s web interface
